Outline: This is a renovation project of Babakawa Street (approx. 200m), which is adjacent to the arcade street in the central area of Maebashi City. In order to make it a street where people play a leading role, the boundary between the pedestrian and vehicular paths, which had a 250mm difference in level, was flattened, and the waterway was repositioned at the center of the limited 12m-wide cross-sectional configuration. A flat deck for wheelchairs and strollers, a single deck with a coffee table, and a two-tiered deck with an attractive proximity to the water's surface were connected in a series of beads to create a situation in the town where everyone can feel that they have a place.
