TAKANAWA GATEWAY STATION

- The new station was planned on the site of a former railroad depot between JR Shinagawa and Tamachi stations, and was opened in advance of the "Global Gateway Shinagawa" urban development project, which aims to open the station around 2024. The aim of the project was to create a space where the platform, concourse, and surrounding area are continuous. The large roof, made of membranes with an origami geometry, opens to the station square on the west side.
