Outline: Takenaka Corporation's Tokyo head office building (0412) was renovated with the aim of "improving productivity and creating new value". Making use of the existing floor plan, which had a "light canal" lined with a light garden and core in the center and two rows of work areas on either side of the canal, ABW (activity-based working) was adopted to enable work to be performed according to the nature of the work. The head office corporate and sales departments have free addresses, and free addresses are implemented on 1/3 of all floors.
