AGA KHAN CENTRE
MAKI AND ASSOCIATES IN ASSOCIATION WITH ALLIES AND MORRISON
- Outline
- It houses two universities founded by the Aga Khan, the Imam of the Shia Ismaili sect of Islam, and the British headquarters of the Aga Khan Foundation. The building is located in an area of north London that is being redeveloped on the site of the former yard of Kings Cross Station and St. Pancras Station, the new Eurostar station. The building is constructed of glass on the lower levels, limestone on the middle levels, and metal on the upper levels, representing the three-storied structure found in important Islamic buildings.
