TOMIOKA CITY HALL
KENGO KUMA & ASSOCIATES
- Outline
- Plan of the new city hall in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture. The site is in close proximity to the "Joshu-Tomioka Station" (this magazine 1405). The relationship with the Tomioka Silk Mill, a World Heritage Site, and with the town are emphasized, and a road is built as the overall concept of Tomioka City. The plan incorporates a large plaza that can be used by citizens, "kamahigari" (alleys) that have existed in the town for a long time, and "koshigane" (ventilation windows used by sericultural farmers).
