TAISEI DESIGN PLANNERS ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS SYLVAIN DUBUISSON ARCHITECTE
- Outline
- This is the fourth reconstruction of the Okura Honkan, which was built in 1882 as the offices of the Okura Gumi Shokai. The third floor, which houses Cartier, has a stone-based façade, while the fourth through twelfth floors, which house offices, shops, and restaurants, are covered with vertical frames and horizontal louvers reminiscent of Japanese shoji screens. Facing the street, an arc lamp that was installed when the first Okura main building was completed in 1882 has been reproduced and installed.
