- Outline
- In 2009, Minato Ward acquired the land and building from the Japanese government and put them to good use. The former Public Health Center, designed by Shozo Uchida and completed in 1938, had been closed after its relocation to Wako City in 2002. In 2009, Minato Ward acquired the land and the building from the government and utilized them. The project is to renovate the building into a complex facility that includes a local history museum, a cancer home palliative care support center, child-rearing facilities, and a space for ward residents to collaborate. The building was renovated to meet modern functional requirements such as barrier-free access and ease of use as a history museum. In addition, various processes were taken to meet the functional requirements while preserving the appearance and design of the building as much as possible, such as the establishment of a basic philosophy and examination by a committee of experts.
