BOTAMBOKO APARTMENT

Outline
This is a senior citizen residence with services located along Senbon Street, which runs north-south through the Nishijin district of Kyoto. The building was originally an office building and residence, but was renovated and made barrier-free for its current use. The original office floors (2nd and 3rd floors) and the residential floors (4th and 5th floors) have different window shapes, but the wooden louvers and external blinds on the exterior create a sense of unity. In order to create a sense of continuity throughout the floors, glass is inserted in the balustrades.
