KUMAMOTO PREFECTURAL KAGAYAKINOMORI SUPPORT SCHOOL

Outline
Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture - In designing a support school in Kumamoto Prefecture, where lumber production and distribution are prominent, the building was constructed entirely of wood, without using laminated wood. The wooden parts of the school are legally treated as "other buildings" and are connected by a fireproof reinforced concrete structure, which makes it possible to construct a large-scale building using conventional wood. The undergraduate hall in the classroom building is a column-free space with an 8-meter long span consisting of cantilevered trusses on both sides, so that wheelchair users can gather in the hall.
