KHUMUJUNG SECONDARY SCHOOL
SHIGERU BAN ARCHITECTS + VOLUNTARY ARHICTECTS’ NETWORK
- Outline
- This is a part of the reconstruction project of the earthquake in Nepal. It was planned in response to a request to rebuild a school in a place where cars could not pass. Since materials cannot be transported by car, the aim is to use materials (stones) that are available at the site and to build with the same performance as standard architecture. Next to the school is a classroom that was built with the support of Edmund Hillary, who became the first person to climb Mount Everest in 1953.
