TAKETA CITY LIBRARY
TAKAO SHIOTSUKA ATELIER
- Outline
- This library was built in Takeda City, Oita Prefecture, a castle town surrounded by mountains on all sides. While specializing in the reading of books, the library can be used by a wide range of people. The ceiling and walls are composed of mesh-like surfaces that softly diffuse light throughout the open space. Underneath, seven types of bookshelves ranging from 1,000 to 3,400 mm in height are placed in a curvilinear pattern, and a place to live is created in the gaps between them.
