SHINJUKU MITSUI BUILDING RENEWAL

Outline
Seismic damping and porte-cochere renovation of the Shinjuku Mitsui Building (this 7503), completed in 1974, was carried out after the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, when skyscrapers in the Tokyo metropolitan area were resonated by long-period earthquakes. To reduce the vibration, a seismic control system using a TMD (dynamic vibration absorber) was installed on the roof. In addition, the basement porch has been renovated into a high quality space to welcome people.
