Outline: Partial renovation of an old inn in a hot spring resort. The first floor bathroom is lit by top and high side lights. In order to maintain the quietness of the space, the curved ceiling of the two-story atrium promotes natural ventilation without the use of ventilation fans. The curved surface of the bathroom ceiling serves as the backrest of the bench in the bathing area on the second floor.
