ONAGAWA STATION

Outline
Reconstruction of JR Onagawa Station, which was damaged by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was built on a site that was moved 150m inland from before the earthquake and embanked with 7m of earth. The station building and a hot spring bathing facility are built under a membrane roof that resembles the shape of a seabird spreading its wings. A promenade extending from the central axis of Onagawa Station in the direction of the sea is planned, and a shopping street, a product center, and a town development base facility are planned to be developed along the promenade.
