This is a renovation of the "Memorial for Fallen Students" ("Tange Kenzo", 2002, Shinkenchiku-sha), a memorial facility for mobilized students who were killed in the Pacific War, designed by Tange Kenzo and completed in 1967. It had been closed for about 20 years, but Minami-Awaji City bought it and redeveloped it as a park, and renovated and partially restored it, including seismic reinforcement.
