PUBLIC RESTRUCTION HOUSING IN OGAKUCHI-OTUCHI

Outline
Public disaster housing for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, built along the Otsuchi River in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture. It consists of 12 low-rise wooden row houses (70 units in total) designed to harmonize with the townscape. There are two community squares on the site, and each unit has a veranda facing the squares and sidewalks, so that residents can interact with each other and with the local community.
