NIHONBASHI DIA BUILDING

MITSUBISHI JISHO SEKKEI， TAKENAKA CORPORATION

Outline: Seventy percent of the exterior walls and forty percent of the building frame of the Mitsubishi Warehouse Edobashi Warehouse Building, completed in 1930, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, have been preserved and renovated. The lower part of the building houses offices and warehouses of Mitsubishi Warehouse Corporation, while the upper part houses tenant offices. By preserving the exterior walls of the existing building frame, the floor area of the building was increased by 300% through the use of a special district system. In the foreground, the Metropolitan Expressway spans the Nihonbashi River.
