Outline
This is a project to connect the Asian and European sides of the Bosphorus Strait, which are divided by the strait, by a 13.6 km railway including an undersea tunnel. The design-builder was selected through a competition, and Taisei Corporation and two local general contractors worked in a joint venture. The undersea tunnel, which had been conceived 150 years ago, was completed in accordance with a plan to eliminate chronic traffic congestion while taking into consideration the historic landscape of the existing city.
