HUT WITH THE ARK WALL
YO SHIMADA / TATO ARCHITECTS
- Outline
- A public restroom constructed on Shodoshima Island as part of the Setouchi International Art Festival, with a curved wall made of a single steel plate and a Japanese-style hut on top of the wall. The design is based on that of the soy sauce warehouses in the vicinity, which are registered tangible cultural properties and are called "Shishio no Sato". The soft curvature of the steel plates creates entrances to the men's and women's restrooms.
