TOKYO NATIONAL MUSEUM TOYOKAN (ASIAN GALLERY), RENOVATIONS

Outline
Renovation of the Toyokan (Asian Gallery) of the National Museum, designed by Yoshiro Taniguchi and completed in 1968 (8612). New earthquake-resistant walls were installed, existing walls were reinforced, and steel braces were installed and reinforced concrete walls were reinforced, so as not to affect the existing design. A see-through elevator connecting the three-story atrium and the skip-floor exhibition space was newly installed for barrier-free access. A portion of the floor was cut and inserted so that there was no increase or decrease in the original floor area.
