TOKYO METROPOLITAN ART MUSEUM RENEWAL
MAEKAWA ASSOCIATES AND ENGINEERS
- Outline
- Renovation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (completed in 1975) designed by Maekawa Kunio. Most of the exterior walls and the frame of the building were renovated, including updating the facilities and making the building barrier-free. The esplanade surrounded by each building and the second floor of the central building were also added. In addition, a clear approach to the main gate on the south side was planned by reorganizing the parkway in Ueno Park.
