KOUYAGUCHI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RENOVATION PROJECT

Outline
A 75-year-old wooden one-story elementary school in Wakayama Prefecture was renovated and reconstructed after a review of the 1996 rebuilding plan and 12 years of study and discussion. A workshop was held with the participation of the parents to identify areas that should be preserved, improved, or renewed, and these opinions were reflected in the design to maximize what could be preserved.
