ARK OF BAMBOO

Outline
A meeting place built with local bamboo on a site along the coast in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture. The students self-built the building through two 28-day workshops, including bamboo cutting, site preparation, frame fabrication, erection, and membrane tensioning. At the completion of the construction, the local people performed a traditional local dance called "Toramai". The installation period is planned to be four years.
