TOYO ITO MUSEUM OF ARCHITECTURE, IMABARI

Outline
This outdoor sculpture museum was built on the site of a former elementary school yard, donated by sculptor Iwata Ken. A 30-meter diameter reinforced concrete wall with overhanging eaves forms a circular path, and sculptures are installed inside the wall. The eaves of the walkway, which protrude a maximum of 3100 mm, are gradually made thinner from the point where they meet the wall toward the courtyard, and the thickness at the top is reduced to 170 mm.
