Outline: This facility is located in Izu-Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on a wharf surrounded by Shimoda Bay and the Shimoda River, where Perry landed in 1852. There used to be a shipyard dock on the site. The walled structure protects the building from typhoons and tsunamis, but at the same time, it has a large opening to the sea and the first floor is set back. This gives the building a light impression.
