HOUSE IN SRI LANKA

Outline
A studio and residence on a steep cliff facing the sea at the southern tip of Sri Lanka. It consists of the client's residence, a guest room, and his wife's studio. These functions are arranged in a zigzagging volume, with the gaps between them serving as intermediate areas for dialogue with the nature of Sri Lanka. The architecture is well ventilated with many semi-outdoor spaces. The quality of the fair-faced concrete and the overall precision of the construction were enhanced by the cooperation of local and Japanese craftsmen.
