TOKYO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INTERNATIONAL PASSENGER TERMINAL
JOINT VENTURE FOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN WORK FOR INTERNATIONAL PASSENGER TERMINAL BUILDING OF TOKYO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT(AZUSA SEKKEI, PELLI CLARKE PELLI ARCHITECTS JAPAN, YASUI ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERING)
- Outline
- The airport was constructed as part of the Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) re-expansion project to construct a fourth runway, Runway D, and to develop an international flight zone in order to accommodate international scheduled flights while securing enough slots to meet the growing demand for domestic flights. It features a cross-sectional and planar plan that is easy to understand and has few hierarchical movements in the departure and arrival lines. In addition, a variety of environmentally friendly systems have been introduced, including the use of natural energy and high thermal insulation, to create an eco-airport.
