TACHIKAWA CITY HALL

Outline
Tachikawa City's new government building was relocated to the former site of the U.S. military base to improve the convenience and aging of the old building. The design proposal was selected in 2005 through a two-stage competition based on citizen dialogue. After a series of workshops with citizens, the building was completed in March 2010 and started operation on May 6, 2010. The building is a low-rise, large-plan structure that is in harmony with the surrounding environment and offers convenience and livability.
