The Observatory in Akebono-cho

Outline: Renovation of an office and residence on a slope about a 20-minute walk from the central area of Hida Takayama. In order to maximize the hot bath area, a bathroom was built on the second floor and opened to the view to the north, and a sauna unit was newly built directly below the bathroom using vertical log construction, bonded with 105mm square cedar thinned wood. The structure was established with minimal floor space.
