House of KIYUMI

Outline
A weekend house and rental villa for a couple and their dog, built on a site carved out of the wilderness of Hokkaido. In an attempt to nurture the environment with native trees, tree species were selected and thinned to create a forest with a mixture of broadleaf and coniferous trees. To reduce the burden of snow removal, the house will consist of omoya, a gable roof with no snow fall, and hanare, a flat roof made of a material that prevents snow from slipping.
