- Inspired by the boatman's hut in the courtyard of Monolith (1701), which was constructed with inorganic materials, this project is a 1 tsubo hut constructed with organic materials. The form of the hut follows that of the boatman's hut, but it is made entirely of cypress using the techniques of traditional Japanese architecture.
