- "The Kawaya Residence stands across from the Harada Family Residence, a city-designated tangible cultural property, in the old town of Kawagoe, where the streets of Edo still remain. The house was planned by examining two types of houses: traditional Edo machiya houses and mise-gura (storehouses) rebuilt in the Meiji period (1868-1912), and constructing a house in a modern way based on the experience of the machiya style and inheriting it.
