HONMUNE HOUSE

Outline
While following the honmune style of the traditional minka houses of the surrounding area, the house incorporates elements unique to this house, such as fusuma-e (sliding door pictures), old materials found during demolition, hanging fish, and decorative clapboard slats. The aim was to create a house that would evoke the memories of the people, and at the same time be open to the future, while presupposing the past, so that the new life would become part of the memories.
