MOKUSO

Outline
This house in Karuizawa is the final residence of the client and his wife. The deep eaves of the house cut through the landscape, creating a space that integrates the interior and exterior in the traditional Japanese architectural style. The wooden fittings in the openings have concealed stile and rail details to ensure confidentiality, and all parts of the house have eaves that also serve as upper frames to protect against fog. The roof and ceiling are made of exposed rafters.
