MATSUBARA
HIROYUKI ITO ARCHITECT & ASSOCIATES + O.F.D.A.
- Outline
- This urban narrow house is built on a site with houses designed by architects on both sides (Michio Kinoshita's "duplex in Matsubara" and Kenichi Kotani's "House in Matsubara"). By reading the nature of the facades on both sides of the house, and being conscious of the cohesion of the building group and the way it stands in a residential area, the house has a facade finished with siding that bends like a folding screen. Inside the distorted plan, in order to overcome the impression of being closed due to the smallness of the site, there is a difference in the level of the floors, and the horizontal surfaces of the floor and furniture are set on the same line, forming separate elements as a single unit.
