Residences in Kamaya-Cho

Outline
The site is a daisy-shaped residential area, with a parking lot at street level and a wooden living space planned on two levels above it. The living/dining room layer is covered by a perimeter wall that also covers the exterior space, creating an intermediate area between the interior and exterior. The squares of the upper two layers are shifted slightly, allowing light to leak through the gaps. Koichi Yasuda's article, "Housing is an Amoeba-type One-room Space: Recent Thoughts on Housing Design," discusses the compositional method of the living space in conjunction with "Housing in Mitsuzawa," which was published at the same time.
