The "abei valley project" aims to increase the number of foreigners visiting japan and to promote international town development with iwate prefecture, centered on the resort facilities owned and operated by iwate hotel and resort. as part of the project, harrow international school, a private boarding school with its main school in london, was opened in abe kogen. the main entrance has a large roof with eaves rising 6,200 mm from the exterior walls.
