Adjacent to the designer ken yokogawa's own residence, "tunnel dwelling," the site of the house where he lived with his family since childhood was reconstructed into a rental housing complex and yokogawa's studio. in order to preserve the maple tree in the garden and to avoid shading restrictions, the volumes were twisted on each floor. the terrace portion of the building was excavated so that the line of sight would be continuous from the half-ground level to the garden.
