With the cooperation of kyoto institute of technology, where shinkenchiku-sha is conducting joint research, detailed 3d scanning of the building was conducted after it had been dismantled down to the shaft. the walls of the various rooms on the east side of the building were removed to reveal the wooden shaft, and an atrium spanning the first and second floors was created, leaving some of the existing design scattered about and creating a new spatial composition.
