Outline
This is a renovation of the Sericultural Testing Center, a research facility of the former Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which was built between 1934 and 1937 with the aim of producing high-quality silkworms. The exterior of the building has been restored to its original design, the second floor has been seismically reinforced to maintain its design, and the first floor has been seismically reinforced differently in each of the three buildings in consideration of its future use. The aim of this project is to preserve and utilize the historical value of the buildings as a whole by applying the three methods of "restoration," "maintenance," and "new space with different seismic reinforcement" to each building, floor, and part. The three renovated buildings will be used as municipal facilities, including a multipurpose hall, a produce market, shops, and offices.
