ATELIER TSUYOSHI TANE ARCHITECTS, NTT FACILITIES STARTS CONSTRUCTION AND ASSET MANAGEMENT
Outline
The Yoshino-cho Brick Warehouse, built in 1907 as a sake brewery warehouse, was renovated into an art museum. It was planned as a PFI project in which a management company called Hirosaki Art Creation would maintain and manage the museum for 15 years. The rhombus-roofed roof made of titanium metal sheets shines in a cedar gold color when light is reflected. The existing brick walls were checked to determine the condition of the surface layers, such as darkening and whitening, as well as any damage, and restoration techniques such as high-pressure washing, polishing, and backfilling with dismantled and remanufactured bricks were employed.
