Outline
This is a sports facility adjacent to the Showa Denko Dome Oita (this magazine 0107). The main stadium is 81 x 40 m, capable of hosting two handball, four basketball, five volleyball, eight judo and eight kendo games simultaneously, and the martial arts hall consists of three dojos arranged in series, each capable of hosting two judo and two kendo games simultaneously. The structure of the main stadium is made of cedar lumber produced in Oita Prefecture. A series of 40 wooden truss beams, each with a pitch of 2.575 m, are made of 12 x 24 cm cedar lumber (upper chords, lower chords, and bundles) assembled like H-shaped steel. The structure of the martial arts hall consists of about 50 consecutive wooden truss beams at a pitch of 1,875 mm, which are composed of 12 x 24 cm upper chords, 18 x 12 cm lower chords and 10.5 cm square cedar bundles. A concrete slab protrudes from the floor at a height of 5 m to prevent the spread of fire and to realize an all-wooden roof structure.
