In addition to being open to the public as a park, it is also a center for the promotion of equestrian sports operated by the Japan Central Racing Association (JRA), which hosts various domestic dressage competitions. It has been selected as the venue for the Tokyo 2020 Equestrian Games, and is being upgraded to replace aging facilities and to meet the requirements of the Games. Temporary facilities such as spectator seating at the main venue during the Games will be provided by the Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee.
