The new national stadium is being constructed for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The roof is a hybrid structure of steel and wood, and the length of the roof from the base steel frame to the top is approximately 60 m. The amount of wood used for the new national stadium is approximately 2,000 m3. The field is equipped with a ground temperature control system, and turf has been laid since mid-July. A part of the south side of the roof (upper right in the photo) is covered with a louvered glass roof to provide natural light for turf growth during the winter when the sun's altitude is low.
