The reconstruction housing was constructed near the coast in the affected area after the big fire in Ekihoku, Itoigawa City, which occurred in December 2016 and caused damage to 147 shops and houses. Between the two residential buildings (2 stories/6 houses + 3 stories/12 houses), which are equipped with an exchange space and a visiting clinic, there are two passageways, "Nakaniwa" in the east-west direction and "Koji" in the north-south direction. Because of the harsh climate of the region, all the entrances of each unit face the "nakaniwa". All the slabs in the corridors are made of thick laminated wood panels (certified as quasi-fireproof).
