SHOWA SEKKEI
Outline
The Tower of the Sun, designed by Taro Okamoto and the Collective Work Architectural Office as the theme pavilion for the 1970 Osaka World's Fair (7005), was converted into an exhibition facility for re-opening to the public. Since the closing of the Expo, the Tower has been preserved as a work of art with no one allowed to enter or leave, but when it was opened to the public, it was required to conform to the current Building Standards Law. While reproducing the tour route and exhibits, the seismic performance and fire safety performance were improved.
