The "Kumamoto Reconstruction Support Project" was launched at Kumamoto University two months after the Kumamoto earthquake. As a place to play a central role in the project, a part of a park near the urban area was chosen as the site, and containers were placed there to create a space (for early construction and low cost, with the possibility of relocation in the future). Faculty and students are stationed at the site every weekend to hold open labs, and many other events are held there, making it a hub for people's activities.
