DAVID CHIPPERFIELD ARCHITECTS
Outline
This facility was built in the Inagawa Cemetery, located on a steep slope in the Hokusetsu mountain range in Hyogo Prefecture, for visitors to pray and rest. The practical functions of the cemetery, such as the reception desk and office, and the chapel and resting building are arranged around a courtyard. The floor, walls, and roof are all made of reddish concrete, and are formed as pure architectural elements.
