Outline
This project involved the reconstruction of a 50-year-old wooden school building located on the grounds of a temple. In the rebuilding process, we attempted to involve children, parents, and residents of the surrounding area in various aspects of the construction process, including the construction of the temporary wooden school building, the main school building, and the surrounding fence. When the main building was rebuilt, the nursery was left in a location where the construction site could be seen, creating opportunities for the children to see the construction process every day and interact with the craftsmen. The opportunity to rebuild the building became a time to experience the fun and excitement of construction, creating an environment in which both children and adults can have a sense that the building is their own place.
