HARYU WOOD STUDIO+ENDO DESIGN HOUSE
Outline
This welfare and medical facility consists of a 19-bed clinic, Med Aguri Clinic, and a 50-bed nursing home, Aguri Care Garden. It is a one-story wooden building made of wood from Ibaraki Prefecture, and was constructed in a depopulated area by utilizing local resources. Horizontal log construction and vertical log construction are the main methods used. The horizontal log construction method was adopted because it is a conventional technology that can be produced at factories throughout Japan, and because it is easy to use the construction method in a plan for living areas with many partitions. The longitudinal log construction method has the potential to be sustainable, which is required for wooden construction in the future, and since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the company has been working to develop and standardize this method.
